User story

As a fraud review analyst, I want a tool that provides the most helpful identity data so that I can approve or deny a transaction as quickly as possible.

Project background

By its previous name, Identity Check, this feature had steadily evolved from an afterthought to our flagship B2B product. The basic concept is that a fraud reviewer can input all of the contact details related to a transaction – phone, email, physical addresses, email, and IP – and Identity Check would return pertinent metadata and identify when specific data points didn't line up. Fraud reviewers often have dozens or hundreds of transactions to process in a day, so speed and clarity is paramount.

The product team and I had been evolving the UI for quite some time, but with the addition of a data science team, a proprietary "confidence score," and new understandings of our data, this next step was an opportunity to provide users with a far more powerful tool to do their work.

My role

I was the sole designer on this project, working with project managers, the data science team, and the product marketing team.

› Real-world User Feedback

Throughout the process, I met with fraud review teams in person and remotely to gather feedback on mockups and beta versions of the product. This was integral to identifying and addressing specific user needs.

› UX/UI and Visual Design

I created dozens of designs – from sketches to final visual design – for the new score UI, updates to the existing data results, and map/distance feature.
